Just got back from the Dr.'s office. It turns out our little bundle of joy is either incredibly shy or is a bit of a tease. I told my husband this Thanksgiving baby really is going to be a little turkey! lol This little baby kept it's legs tightly together the entire appointment despite all the pokes & prodding from it's anxious mother. So it looks like we won't be adding any pink or blue to the nursery anytime soon, at least not until we can take another peek in about a month.

We are excitedly expecting baby #2 over here. On Monday, I have an ultrasound scheduled to {hopefully} see the gender of the baby! Yay!

So will we be having a Boy? or a Girl?

Sorry I've been a little MIA lately. The last few weeks have been a whirlwind! We had family in town over Presidents Day weekend. The night before they left I downloaded all my pictures from my camera to my EHD, which crashed a few minutes later (I had already deleted them from my camera too). I flew into panic mode trying to recover what I could and ultimately sending the drive into a data restoration specialist. The verdict came back that the drive was toast the cost to retrieve the data would be $650. Ouch! Because I had a back-up drive we opted not to restore it for now. However, I had done an incredibly poor job of backing up my data and everything from about Christmas on was lost.... including pictures of Christmas, my Dad's 50th party, and all my recent design files. :( I've been able to get copies of others pictures to fill in some of the gaps and have been reorganizing and restructuring my data. In the end it looks like we were able to get back about 80% of what I originally had. We were lucky.

During all that we've also been busy contending with a leaky washing machine, planning & hosting my daughters 3rd birthday party, keeping up with everyday life, and waiting for a very important LDS mission call for my little brother. (Which happen to come the same weekend as my daughter's birthday party. We literally threw the party and then jumped in the car to make the 2.5hr drive to my parents so we could be there when he opened it. {And in case you are wondering... he'll be serving in the Missouri Independence LDS mission. Yay!}) Crazy! I have one more event I'm helping with tonight and then I plan on sleeping.... and hopefully getting back to designing. :)

I ran out of town this weekend and *thought* I had scheduled this post. Whoops! Today I'm thankful for FREE wireless internet. :)

I just wanted to pop in real quick and wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, if you are celebrating. This is my husband's all time favorite holiday. Aside from the food, he loves the special opportunity to take time and think about what we are blessed with. This year we had the opportunity to meet up in St.George Utah and spend the week with his family from Utah and California. We managed to get out of Idaho barely in front of a pretty crazy blizzard. We sure are thankful for safe travel, wonderful family & friends, and the blessing of good health. I hope you are all enjoying many of the same!

I also wanted to let you know about a Black Friday sale going on over at Stuff to Scrap this weekend. :) The entire store will be on sale so you surely won't want to miss it!

Post-iNDSD File Organization

How are we all recovering from iNDSD this weekend?! I'm slowly working my way through the aftermath. I foolishly *thought* that if I stayed away from the computer MOST of the weekend I wouldn't be so enticed download, and play, and SPEND. hehe I was amazed at what I could do in just a few hours. {wink} So now the clean up and organizing begins.... If I was smart I would have done it as I downloaded, but after a sale like this weekend {HA!} there was no keeping up!

This is my desktop halfway through my downloading frenzy iNDSD weekend.

**Warning: What you are about to witness is Extreme Downloading Madness. Viewing this image has been known to cause disbelief, pity, choas, and sheer overwhelmedness... ok that's not a word, but you get the idea. Ready?**

Can you see my old family picture back there? Yeah. Sick. It drives my husband ABSOLUTELY crazy. (There is a reason we can't share computers anymore. hehe) Once all the desktop space is filled the files start to stack on top of each other in the top right corner. Lets just say I had enough files stacked there this weekend to cover the desktop another 1...er 2... times. :P

But I don't think I'm the only one.... at least I hope not! So in the spirit of sharing I thought I briefly share with you how I organize my digital scrapbooking products. To me organizing your supplies is a bit of a personal matter. Everyone has their own preferences and needs, so do what fits you! This is what works for me right now. It's changing from what I used to do.... and will probably change again someday. :) But here's my current method...

After downloading I go through my files and combine all the coordinating downloads into one folder. For example, if the kit I bought came in 4 downloads (thus making 4 separate files on my computer) I open the files and move all the product into one big folder. Seems obvious. I have also found it is very important to keep the TOUs and Previews in this folder with the product. If I try and keep them separate I lose them... not good.:) I name this folder "Designer - Kit Name".

I then rename the files as necessary. I use a {fairly} specific naming convention with all of my digital scrapping supplies. Most designers seem to name their products in a similar matter, but every now and then I need to re-label.
In my stash I like the file name to read: Designer_KitName_item.jpg
Depending on how common the designer abbreviations initials are I may choose to write-out the designer name as well.

Next I find the preview image in the kit. I should mention I work on a Mac, which has this neat little feature that allows you to place an image as your folder thumbnail. (I know PCs do something similiar but I believe it's more of a random viewing of the contents. I don't know if you can select a specific image?) I like to take my kit preview image and use it as the folder image for my new kit's folder. So instead of just a plain old folder I get a nice pretty peek at what's inside. :) Here's a contrast of the plain ol' folder versus one's with the preview image.

To do this on your Mac, open your kit image in the Preview program. Use the cross-hair cursor to select your image and copy (cmd+c). Then ctrl+click your kit folder and go to "Get Info". This should open a little dialog box like below.

Click on that little folder on the top left next to the folder name and paste (cmd+v). Tah Dah!

Lastly, I move my pretty little folder over to my EHD and repeat... and repeat... and repeat... haha After last weekend I'll be doing this a while!

I've been a bad blogger again. {sigh} The time just gets away from me these days. What's this business about it being OCTOBER already? Wait I mean the END of October! I looked at the calendar today and realized I have 4 days to get my daughter's Halloween costume together. Sheesh! She wants to be "Jesse" from Toy Story this year. It's a good thing little cowgirls are pretty easy to dress up or I would be in BIG trouble here.

Meanwhile I HAVE been hard at work on a new kit and I can't wait to show it to you!

STS Charity Kit: Rainbow Bridge

In early September, Katina (aka The Scrappy Kat) lost her poodle, Pepe.

Pepe was a rescue dog, and Kat enjoyed his loyal, loving companionship for 15 years! Most of us can relate to losing a pet, and it is especially heartbreaking to lose one who has been a part of our family for such a long time. As we are not all in Kat's neighborhood to give her a big hug, the designers at STS have decided to give her a virtual hug, by creating a special kit called Rainbow Bridge (poem below) to honor not only the adorable, well-loved Pepe, but all the animals we love and lose in our lifetime. We have dogs, cats, horses; we even have lizards, bunnies, and many other kinds of pets in this kit! With a colorful rainbow palette and a ton of papers and elements showcasing all kinds of pets, this kit is perfect for ALL pet owners! The best thing about the Rainbow Bridge kit is that ALL proceeds from the kit will be donated to Katina's local Humane Society. You can check out their website here.

Here is the lovely poem that inspired this kit:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Monday Fun Facts!

Good Morning, Good Morning!

Ready for the results of last week's fun fact? Here we go!

Which of the following is NOT TRUE.
a) Garlic butter is one of the best inventions ever made. In fact, I think almost anything with garlic on it is wonderful.
b) I HATE mixing my food. I always keep it separated on my plate and eat one part at a time. Mixed veggies are a nightmare to me.
c) I always eat my meals at home with the smaller set of silverware.
d) All of these are true.

Yup all of them. I guess I'm kinda weird. :) I do love me some garlic butter, it drives my husband crazy. When I was pregnant with my DD I used to eat those large garlic french bread loaves constantly. I would easily go through 3 a week! haha I'm sure I just reeked of garlic. I'm surprised anyone risked talking to me!

I do also hate mixing my food. Like when the gravy runs into the vegetables... or the rice and the vegetables sit to close... bleh. Drives me crazy! Certain foods (like garlic & butter!) are meant to be combined. Others not so much.

And I do use all the smaller silverware at home! The big ones are just too big. :)

That's right. I was just a baby! hehe My husband and I met my first semester of college and that was that. We married the following August (2005) and I turned 20 a month later.
