Wednesday Challenge: Family Ties

It's time for another Wednesday Challenge! :)

Did you enjoy your skip through my little store last week? Thanks to everyone that played along. Random.org chose a winner again this week and the lucky scrapper is....
MANDA!
She said "My favorite Item of yours is Photo Delight kit :) Beautiful!"
Congrats Manda! Send an email to clittleford3(at)gmail(dot)com with which kit you would like for FREE!

This week's challenge has to do with a new kit I'm releasing soon. It's a fabulous collaboration with fellow STS designer the Scrappy Kat and is a great compliment to the coming Fall season. To kick off this weeks challenge here's a sneek peek at the new kit.....

What do you think?! hehe

So here's this week's challenge....
Tell me about something homemade or special to you. It could be your favorite quilt your grandma made or a special treasure or heirloom that was passed down to you. Leave me a comment telling me what the item is and why it's important.

Want a bonus entry?
Make a layout featuring that item. Leave me another comment with the gallery link!

How about a SECOND bonus entry?!?
Call a family member & tell them you love them. It just might make their day. :)
Leave me another comment to tell me you did.

Limit 3 entries per person.
*Please put each entry on a separate comment.*

Deadline to enter is Tuesday, September 21 at midnight MST.
The winner and a new challenge will be posted the following Wednesday morning.

Good luck!

p.s. You are responsible to check back and claim your prize. Unclaimed prizes make me sad. :( If your life is crazy like mine (lol) leave your email with your comment(s) so I can contact you! ;)

I have a bookcase my Grandpa made for me when I was in elementary school. It's now in my son's room, but still full of books.

I actually have a quilt made by my grandma. She has made quilts for every one in my my family. She uses different patterns and fabric for each one and in the corner she sews in a patch that says your name, the quilt pattern name, and made with love by grandma in whatever year she made it. Mine is on my bed at all times. She made quilts for my kids too but I'm keeping them safely tucked away until my babies are big enough or behaved enough to not destroy them :)

I called my sister Emma, who is away at college, my sister Elle, who is away at another college and my mom to say I love you today.

My prized treasures are my quilts made by two of my great, great grandmothers. I have them on display where I can see them daily. I have made quilts, so I know how much work goes into them. I think they would be pleased to know that their work is still being appreciated by one of their great, great, granddaughters.

I contact each of my kids every day to say that I love them. You can't ever say it enough tho.

Thanks for the inspiration. I have been needing to scrap these quilts for awhile. The kids were not in the mood to pose today so I just showed the quilts by themselves. This layout looks simple but it took way longer then normal to scrap. I'ts hard to find a good paper to work with patterned quilts :) I went through 6 kits before deciding on this one.

My item is what my family loving calles the coffin. My mother had a buffet in her dining room and it was just too big for the space so she had my dad remove the legs, and she painted and put a padded cushion on it and used it as a window seat. Unfortantly she picked this horrible antique gold color and when she was done it looked like a coffin. We finally convinced her to paint it and she did. I got it several years ago and it is now an nice cream color. But my brother and sister and I still call it the coffin, because it gets a rise out of mom.

This is so awesome! Wow, your amazing Carissa! I want to play too! I have a really cool candy dish that my great grandma used to keep treats in for us. Now I have it and pass on the tradition! :)

I have a Christmas stocking that my grandma made for me for my first christmas. I loved it so much that I had her make my kids and husband one. They are all different.
